Those trains will take you to your destination for about 3 to 5 hours, and sometimes, tickets just a few euros more than the second class fare on high-speed trains. Fares for slower trains run between €24 and €49 per way. There is actually no difference between classes on these trains that are slower, just the speed and rates.
Keep in mind that the high-speed AV trains require reservations together with train tickets, so although you already bought an Italy Rail Pass, it’s still necessary for you to get an AV train reservation.
