Tips for Packing Your Carry On
Now you have an international flight carry-on packing list, let us now talk about some tips on how you can pack your carry-on bag properly. Here are some packing tips you may want to follow:
1. Try not to wear more than two pieces of clothing.
Most of the time, people tend to overpack and the main reason for this is that they put too many clothes in. They put clothes for “just in case” situations. You think, what if there’s a formal party I would need to attend to, so you brought a couple of long dresses. Well, guess what… you probably won’t need them! Just bring clothes according to your plans! If you’re going to the beach, then just bring swimsuits and some lightweight clothing – usually, a couple of sets is enough!
2. Pre- plan what you’re going to wear.
How many days are you planning to travel? Have a vision what you are going to wear each day. From the top to the bottom and the shoes, plan what you’re going to wear. Don’t be afraid to wear some pieces of clothing multiple times or at least plan to do some laundry along the way, especially if you’re traveling long term. Knowing the weather in your destinations will also help you determine the type of clothes you should pack. If you’re going during summer, then there’s no point of packing some heavyweight jackets.
3. Pack essential toiletry and cosmetic items only.
It’s so easy to get carried away when packing. But you have to keep in mind that unnecessary items can consume a lot of space in your bag. Of course, you need your toothpaste, toothbrush, maybe shampoo and soap, but do you really need your complete set of makeup or shaving tools? Just pack enough, of it’s something you can buy as disposable from where you’re going, then just go for those options.
Another thing, if you care so much about your hair, well, you don’t always have to bring your hair dryer or straightening iron – if possible, request for the hotel you’re staying in to have them ready for you. If they can’t provide you with a flat iron or the curling iron you need, then bring only one of them. Just don’t bring your own hairdryer. Aside from the fact that most hotels surely provide them to the guests, they might probably not compatible with your country of destination as they have different watts requirements.
4. Organize them properly.
Sometimes, a bag inside a bag will do the magic. Heard of packing cubes before? Well, they have been a game changer for me, so they might probably for you too. Try them! Have a separate bag for your tops, bottoms, underwear, and have a spare for your dirty clothes. You should, of course, do the same with other items that belong to different categories. For example, have a separate bag for your hygiene and health needs. Have a toiletry bag and first aid kit.
5. Get travel insurance!
Okay, this may come up as a totally random tip, but this is very important. But despite this fact, many people still overlook this thing. Packing "light" doesn’t mean you’re only packing luggage. You don’t want to with your stress as baggage. You would like to have that peace of mind knowing you’re protected. Traveling and experiencing some of the worst things a traveler may experience could really give you a real nightmare. Imagine getting sick or having an accident and having to pay a high bill at the hospital. Wouldn’t that be a killjoy? If ever your trip gets canceled, your airline would not probably compensate you for the time of delay. Getting travel insurance may just solve these worries for you.
